Mary Amschel Ruppert joined Johnson May in 2023 in her sixth year of practice. She earned her Juris Doctor at Concordia University School of Law in 2016. Although she is a third-generation attorney in her family, she initially pursued a career in academic philosophy, studying the discipline for eight years at the University of California at Riverside and Yale University. Mary’s philosophical background informs her practice of law as both philosophy and litigation utilize persuasion and argumentation.
While at Concordia, Mary founded the Public Interest Law Student Organization, which focused on access to justice for civil legal needs. She served in the school’s pro bono housing clinic for two semesters and volunteered at the International Rescue Committee for fifteen months.
Mary’s legal experience is focused primarily on business and commercial law, landlord-tenant law, and adult guardianships and conservatorships. She is admitted to practice in the Idaho Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
