  • Associate Attorney

    Johnson May's commercial litigation practice seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its fast-growing litigation team. The ideal candidate will manage litigation cases and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients by developing agreements, negotiating contracts, drafting pleadings, and advocating for clients in court. The right candidate will be able to step into a fast-paced and dynamic commercial litigation practice located in Boise, Idaho - within minutes of various outdoor and cultural activities.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Provide legal support to clients and assist partner attorneys
    • The ideal candidate will manage litigation cases and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients by developing agreements, negotiating contracts, drafting pleadings, and advocating for clients in court
    • The right candidate will be able to step into a fast-paced and dynamic commercial litigation practice located in Boise, Idaho - within minutes of various outdoor and cultural activities
    • Develop and maintain client relationships
    • Prepare legal pleadings and documents
    • Provide mentorship to junior associates

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum five years of litigation experience
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong legal research and writing skills.
    • Ability to work as part of a fast-paced and dynamic team
    • Practical law school experience or judicial clerkship experience preferred
    • Successful applicants will be expected to complete a writing assignment to be considered for employment

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal with a Law Firm
    • Command of legal processes, procedures, practices, and protocols
    • Familiarity with various forms of litigation
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills to ensure that you stay on top of monitoring areas of responsibility including deadlines and filings
    • Ability to deliver the highest quality work under pressure while always maintaining a positive attitude
    • Familiarity with legal industry software and tools such as Centerbase and LawToolBox
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, vendors, and clients
    • Professional appearance and manner
    • Ability to work independently
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Self-starter that takes initiative and asks questions
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment
    • Highly proficient Microsoft Word skills and SharePoint, and proficient with Excel, & PowerPoint
    • Minimum High School Diploma
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
    • Ability to commute to the office location 5 days a week during regular business hours
    • Boise, ID 83702: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
    • Microsoft Office: 5 years (Required)

    Responsibilities

    • This individual will be the indispensable gatekeeper for the partner
    • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, coding, and organizing documents, entering client billable time, and opening new files
    • Process court filings (electronic or physical) with state and federal courts as required by the assigned attorney’s practice and serves legal documents as needed
    • This includes filing with ECF and iCourt
    • Maintain case calendaring and deadline reminder systems; utilize the calendaring system, update and monitor attorney(s) and paralegal(s) calendars
    • Manage partner calendar and workflow
    • Oversee the organization of case files and maintain records and files meticulously.
    • Review intake forms; review conflict of interest forms; the opening of new files; with legal assistant/paralegal; maintain client and general files as needed
    • Assists with overflow projects, including creating, formatting, and editing documents
    • Schedule conferences and depositions and assist with maintaining calendars for attorneys and paralegals
    • Assist with time/billing entries as needed; edit pre-bills as necessary
    • Promptly providing clients copies of all documents and correspondence pertaining to their case
    • Assisting with client communication and updates to ensure prompt responsiveness to client concerns
